Every day across Contra Costa County, older adults reach out to Meals on Wheels Diablo Region hoping for help with food and connection. Too often, the answer they hear is “you will have to wait.”
Our team is currently providing nutritious meals and vital safety checks to more than 1,900 seniors every week. Sadly, nearly 300 more are still on hold.

As we continue to feel the ripple effects of recent SNAP freezes and federal funding cuts, the need for our services is rising. Nearly 300 older adults in Contra Costa County are waiting for us to knock at their door with the meals and support they need to feel nourished, seen, and safe.
For seniors like Nancy, that wait can be dangerous. After a devastating fall that left her with two broken hips, she often went days without food because she couldn't walk to the store or prepare a meal. No senior should be left without access to the nutrition they need.
